Attuned to the “object-ness” of an object, I work in two- and three-dimensions to reflect on material culture and the familiar. Concerned with time and memory, the tactile and delicate nature of my work engages with ideas of permanence and impermanence through the materiality of mediums. With attention to detail and subtleties, my practice involves collection and the idea of (re)collection by means of repetition, and layering as a form of remembrance. Constructing personal narratives from quotidian items, and playing with the malleability of materials, I explore facets of the home and the everyday as marks of time and a person’s role in being. Sensitive to the ways in which time reveals itself, I choose to work with materials like paper, wood, wire, and plaster to construct snippets of narrative through the often-unseen details.
